Nicholas Morgan
Mr. Morgan’s practice includes litigation, clearance, and business counseling with an emphasis on copyright, idea submission, and Internet law. Mr. Morgan has represented motion picture studios, recording companies, video game developers, publishers, newspapers, and internet service providers in litigation and counseling capacities spanning all aspects of intellectual property law.
Before joining LP&S, Nick was a litigation and intellectual property associate at Irell & Manella in Los Angeles, where he represented environmental organizations in lawsuits challenging the U.S. Navy’s use of sonar (and its effect on marine mammals), and was part of the trial team that won TiVo a multi-million dollar patent infringement verdict in the Eastern District of Texas.
Nick graduated from UCLA School of Law in 2005, where he was Managing Editor of the UCLA Law Review.
Selected Experience:
- Secured walk-away defense victory for DreamWorks Animation in copyright infringement suit regarding Madagascar.
- Represented Universal against libel-by-fiction and false light claims regarding the 10th Anniversary DVD edition of Reality Bites.
- Provided pre-release clearance analysis of parody films, Meet the Spartans and Vampires Suck.
- Draft Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Intellectual Property Licenses for online content distributors.
- Counsel internet service providers regarding user-generated content, take down notices, and compliance with Digital Millennium Copyright Act and related internet law.
