Anti-SLAPP Victory for Small Business Owner (2014)

December 24, 2014

In Sadeghi v. Snell, 2014 WL 7366187 (Cal. Ct. App. 2014), the California Court of Appeal affirmed an Anti-SLAPP victory for a small business owner whose comment, that a real estate developer said he would copy her business if she did not lease space in his development, printed as part of an article in the OC Weekly, was held to be a statement made in a public forum concerning matters of public interest, and the developer could not show a probability on his claims for defamation, interference with prospective economic advantage, and unfair competition.
