Summary Judgment For Defendant Affirmed on Appeal in “Year of the Dog” Idea Submission Case (2009)

August 6, 2009

Kightlinger v. White, 2009 WL4022193 (Cal. Ct. App. Nov. 23, 2009)

LP&S obtained dual grants of summary judgment for the defendant on breach of confidence and breach of implied contract claims in this idea submission case alleging the screenwriter of the motion picture Year of the Dog used the plaintiff’s ideas after reading her screenplay.  Represented by a well-known entertainment litigation boutique, the plaintiff appealed and the summary judgments in defendant’s favor were affirmed in an unpublished November 2009 decision of the California Court of Appeal.
